Saffron Road Marks Brand's Fifth Ramadan Celebration with Nationwide in-store Promotions and a Major Donation to City Harvest's Feed Our Kids Food Drive

Share

STAMFORD, Conn. (May 31, 2016) – In preparation for Ramadan, Saffron Road®, a leader in the natural foods industry, is offering American Muslim consumers a wide range of more than 70 Certified Halal products, on a significant promotion at Whole Foods Market® and many other retailers for the month of June, making it convenient for Muslim consumers to choose the brand’s Halal products during Ramadan. This will mark the brand’s fifth Ramadan promotion and they expect it to be the largest to date.

According to the leading Islamic branding agency, Ogilvy Noor, there are seven million American Muslims who command more than $170 billion in annual consumer buying power, which they project may grow dramatically as the American Muslim population nearly doubles over the next two decades. Saffron Road aims to provide this exceptional demographic of dedicated consumers with premium Halal products that meet their dietary needs while also giving back to the community through a local New York City partnership. Charitable giving and service to one’s local community is the key tenet for Muslims during the month long holy fast of Ramadan.

In the spirit of the holiday, Saffron Road will be supporting local nonprofit City Harvest’s Feed Our Kids food drive. This food drive aims to provide much-needed food for New York City's children throughout the summer when access to school meals may become limited.  Nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers face hunger, and one in four children in the city do not always know when they will get their next meal. Last year, the Feed Our Kids food drive collected over 250,000 pounds of food—enough to feed more than 3,500 kids and their families in New York City for an entire summer. In support, Saffron Road will be donating a full truckload of its newest line of Baked Lentil Chips® – a healthy snack created from lentils, which are naturally nutritional powerhouses dense in protein, high in fiber and low in fat. These are essential nutrients that may otherwise be lacking from a food insecure diet.

“Our Ramadan outreach for 2016 will engage with the American Muslim community on multiple levels – in store, online, and with local communities. We want to benefit from the blessings of this holy month by not only connecting more deeply with Halal consumers, but also by informing our mainstream consumer base about our wide variety of offerings, including our nutritious new plant-based high protein snacks,” said Adnan Durrani, CEO of American Halal Company, Inc. “In addition to our food offerings, one of the core obligations of Ramadan is to do good works and give back to those less fortunate in our broader community. We couldn’t think of a more impactful way to give back this Ramadan then to help the 1.7 million poverty stricken New Yorkers and the hundreds of thousands of NYC kids facing hunger in NYC.  We are blessed this Ramadan to be able to have the privilege to assist City Harvest in its Feed Our Kids Food Drive by donating a full truckload of Saffron Road’s nutritious snacks and lend our aid in supporting the 500 NYC soup kitchens, food pantries and programs in City Harvest’s network, as well as partnering with local communities, schools, the NYPD and NYC Fire Departments with this donation.”

Saffron Road offers more than 70 different products ranging from frozen entrees, appetizers, wraps, simmer sauces, broths, to snacks and desserts – all of which are inspired by cuisines native to places such as Pakistan,  India, Thailand, Morocco, the Middle East, Mediterranean  Northern Africa, Mexico, Japan, and Korea. Infused with authentic flavors, each product invites consumers on a journey of cultural discovery and epicurean enjoyment.

Saffron Road is the only nationally available Halal Certified line of food in the U.S., now widely available in 12,000 stores.
