Stamford, CT – July 18, 2011 – The Saffron Road™ brand unveiled its eight new All Natural, Antibiotic-Free, Hormone-Free, Halal Certified frozen foods to the food trade industry for the first time at the 57th Summer Fancy Food Show by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT). During the brand’s exhibition of its products, the show in Washington, D.C. July 10-12, displayed over 180,000 specialty foods and beverages, attracting more than 2,400 exhibitors from 80 countries, and over 18,000 attendees.
Jack Acree, EVP of American Halal (parent company of Saffron Road) and a member of the Board of Directors of NASFT, says, “Given that this was the first time in fifteen years that this show has been held outside of New York City, we were pleased with the traffic at our booth. We were certainly gratified by the unanimous positive reception we had and the new distribution opportunities that we found.”
Saffron Road’s booth was heavily trafficked, with over 2,000 samples served of Saffron Road’s global cuisine including new entrees: Lemongrass Basil Chicken, Moroccan Lamb Stew, Lamb Koftis and Chicken Pad Thai, as well as frozen chicken options: Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Bites, Chicken Tenders and Tandoori Seasoned Chicken Nuggets. Also exhibited were the brand’s four initial Indian entrees: Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Biryani, Lamb Vindaloo, and Lamb Saag. Saffron Road’s eight new products are currently sold nationwide at Whole Foods Market®. All entrees are available for the suggested retail price of $5.49 to $5.99 and the frozen chicken items are available for $6.99.
Exhibitors and media alike were attracted to Saffron Road’s crowded booth and many were already familiar with the brand. Thousands of consumers were awed by the brand’s dedication to high quality, all natural meal choices – in particular we had positive response to our gluten-free items.
In addition to its booth presence, Saffron Road’s new products were displayed in the ‘What’s New, What’s Hot’ pavilion, where select new products were on display. An accomplished veteran of the natural foods industry, Mr. Acree also led a seminar at NASFT titled, “Learning the Lingo of Specialty Foods,” as part of the Fancy Food Show’s Education Program.
Leftover samples were donated to D.C. Central Kitchen, a non-profit organization that turns leftover food into millions of meals for thousands of at-risk individuals while offering nationally recognized culinary job training to once homeless and hungry adults.
